At Arotahi, we believe that every child has the right to the best quality of life. Communication skills are key to the way children listen and understand the world around them. Our Speech and Language Therapists work with children to enable them to communicate to the best of their ability. We use evidence based, fun and engaging therapy approaches that achieve great outcomes.
Research has shown that early access to good quality speech therapy can significantly improve the futures of children experiencing communication difficulties. Speech therapy techniques such as articulation therapy or language intervention can be used to improve communication, depending on the type of speech or language delay. We offer a range of speech intervention therapies for children.
Speech therapy usually begins with an assessment by our highly qualified Speech & Language Professional (SLP) who will identify your child’s communication challenge and the best way to treat it. We will work with your child and speak to you about any concerns you have. Once the assessment process is complete, we will identify your child’s key strengths as well as areas in which they may be struggling. The impact of any difficulties with listening, understanding, talking, and interacting on a child’s ability to learn will also be explored in liaison with you and other professionals.
Following diagnosis, we will create an individualised treatment plan based on your child’s strengths and unique areas that need further support. Our therapists are empathetic and enthusiastic and have depths of experience and knowledge in working with children with a range of conditions.
Addressing your child’s communication challenges early will give them a head start in connecting with their learning environment. We work closely with your child’s school, and teachers to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach.
